Porous Ceramic Filter Products
Porous Ceramic Filter Products
Porous Ceramic products are used in in filtration (solid particulate removal), diffusion (gas-gas, gas-liquid, and liquid-liquid mixing), liquid dispersion and Pneumatic conveying and other applications in a wide range of industries. Porous ceramics are more durable in severe environments and their surface characteristics permit them to satisfy very specific requirements.
Unlike other materials, technical ceramic possess the following characteristics:
- Very good resistance corrosion and all etching solution. Depending on the composition, some ceramic may have low resistance to concentrated hydrofluoric acid.
- Low coefficient of thermal expansion. It could withstand up to 500°C.
- Uniform micro-porous distribution. It can be made to variety of porous size of up to 50μm according to the user’s requirement.
- As it is chemically stable, it will not cause secondary pollution.
Depending on the contaminant, porous ceramic can be cleaned by a variety of methods making them an excellent value product. Like-new performance can often be restored by exposing the ceramic materials to high temperatures or corrosive cleaning treatments.
The sizes of the pores are be ranged between 10 micron to 100 micron.

Porous Ceramic
Although the main compositions of the porous ceramics are alumina and fused silica, we can also manufacture other materials such as silicon carbide etc.
In most cases, the porosity of these ceramics can be varied from 20% to 60% by volume. The porous structures are always interconnected. Liquid and gas can flow through them with low pressure drop.
The pore size, depending on the manufacture technique used, can be controlled to as small as 10 nanometers with a narrow pore size distribution. However, the shape of the porous ceramic may be limited when pore sizes approaches the lower limit.
The porous ceramics are produced in any shapes according to customer's design. Typical shapes already manufactured include rods, tubes, and thin plates.
A sol-gel technique is used to produce porous ceramic media in forms of spheres, flakes and irregularly shaped particles. Such ceramics have enormous surface areas up to 500 m2 per gram and are applied as high
performance catalyst carriers or supports for various chemical reactions.
The excellent inertness of ceramics offers an easy way of sterilization as compared with plastics and other materials.

Porous Ceramics
Porous Ceramics
Porous ceramic is a ceramic of which the material itself has numerous pores by the ceramic sintering technology and is used for a vacuum chuck.
Recently it is widely used as a basic material for various industrial products like filters, refractories, kiln furnitures, absorbers, acoustic absorbents, light weight structural materials, adiabatic materials, etc.
Especially it is applied for the vacuum absorption technology with high precision and high performance to absorb ultra thin objects which is required recently for production of semiconductor, LED and display.
It is very important for porous ceramic to have high porosity and maintain high strength. Especially in the area of semiconductor and display industry recently rising as an issue, porous ceramic should have even porosity and good surface roughness not to damage the object to absorb.
It is good for porous ceramic to have high porosity but the higher the porosity is, the lower the material strength gets. In addition, when pore density is low the porosity gets lower or the pore size gets bigger at the same porosity. So the material with low pore density also has lower strength.
All Alumina characteristics (including thermal properties, mechanical properties and physical and chemical properties, etc.) is related to its purity. In general, the higher purity of alumina, the better thermal conductivity. And density of high-purity alumina close to the theoretical density which can make the mechanical properties better.
